Montpelier House Museum
The Montpelier House Museum in Baltimore offers a unique opportunity for people to learn more about the history of the region. It is located at 9650 Muirkirk Rd, Laurel, MD 20708. This historic landmark was constructed during the 1780s and has been transformed into a museum. Free admission is available from April through October. The museum also offers special educational programs that are popular with homeschooling parents.
On a recent First Friday, the museum hosted storytime for preschoolers, a guided tour of the herb and flower gardens, and a dinosaur-themed activity room. Children can also tour the historic mansion and play colonial tavern games. All of these activities are geared toward engaging young visitors.
The Museum is also home to a collection of fine and decorative arts. In addition to the furnishings from the Carroll family, visitors will find fine examples of French, Chinese, and English ceramics. The museum is also a good place to view artifacts from the region. It is definitely worth a visit.
The mansion is available for weddings and conferences. It also serves as a cultural center, hosting special exhibitions and performances. The grounds are 70 acres and provide a quiet ambiance. The surrounding area offers great hiking and biking trails. It is a perfect getaway for families, couples, and groups.
The mansion was once owned by Edmund H. Pendleton. From 1905 until 1910, he made the house his winter home. After he passed away, the estate was sold it to Otto V. von Schrader. During the next few years, the museum was able to expand and renovate the mansion. Learn about us.
The house itself was built in 1867 by John Walton. Along with the house, he also built the Emmanuel Episcopal Church and the Academy. These are all listed buildings, and the house is part of that complex. It is a great place to see John Shaw furniture and Charles Willson Peale paintings.

Mr Joseph was by far the most responsive of the three companies we contacted. He came to inspect or driveway on the date and time he promised, gave us a firm quote, and he and his crew arrived on the appointed day at the scheduled time. They edged and cleared the old surface, then laid the new asphalt with the edges tapered to align with our patio and sidewalk. When they were finished the new surface was truly beautiful (and functional).
