The National Electronics Museum began as an idea in 1983 when a former employee of Westinghouse enlisted the support of his company to start a museum dedicated to electronic marvels. The museum was initially operated by volunteers but later hired professional staff members. The museum relocated to a larger space at Friendship Square in 1992. In 1996, the museum was purchased by Northrop Grumman. Northrop Grumman continued to support the museum’s efforts. During this time, the museum was able to add a conference room, event hall, and climate-controlled warehouse to the facility.
Visitors can explore the history of electronics from ancient times to the present. The National Electronics Museum is open to the public Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. The museum is conveniently located near the BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport. You can easily visit the museum in the afternoon, or even if you’re flying into Baltimore. It’s worth the trip just to see all the exhibits.

The National Electronics Museum was first established in 1973 as the brainchild of Westinghouse employees who worked for the company in Baltimore. The founder of the museum, Robert L. Dwight, wanted to create a place where people could share and see their colleagues’ work and their families pride. In 1973, he organized a Family Day event where he and his colleagues showed off their work and included their families. Mr Joseph was by far the most responsive of the three companies we contacted. They edged and cleared the old surface, then laid the new asphalt with the edges tapered to align with our patio and sidewalk.
